I started playing with Art Clay about a year ago, and it's tough to work with. This clay has a different, much more rubbery consistency from any of the other brands that I've tried. It probably allows 4-5 times longer to work with it than other similar clays. I used this package in a couple of molds, and it came out so beautifully that I literally didn't have to file it down or polish it. I mean not at all. It went from the mold, dried, then I did some general shaping with my flex shaft on the sides to remove some of overage from molding, then I fired it and threw it in the tumbler. The pieces came out with a MIRROR finish! I intend to purchase this clay from here on out. I'll never use another brand.
If you're just starting out, this is the clay for you. It gives you a lot more handling time. When you make a mistake, you can roll it back up 2-3 times and it still will be nice and pliable. I got great prices on it at JoAnn through Amazon. It doesn't get any better than this. If you're not sure which silver clay to purchase, this is the one. You won't be sorry.
Oh -- and you can fire it with your gas stove or a hand-held torch. I think it needs a slightly hotter than normal temp to fire, but I didn't think to measure it.
