(More customer reviews)I build furniture and do lots of home improvement. I bought these for Oak kitchen cabinets. They Install easily, but you may have trouble pressing hard enough on the screw to keep the Phillips head engaged in a hardwood like oak. I thought I would have to pre-drill in a hardwood to prevent splitting, but there was no problem using the self-drilling screws provided. Of course, it would be easier to screw in with a pilot-hole, but then you have a sawdust mess in your cabinets. I think these may have an advantage over the similar Blum product because the single mounting screw is directly in line with the force from the door. And they adjust easily by hand. I installed some to contact on the compact hinge, and some just above the hinge. So far, I think the operation seems smoother above the hinge, providing a more square contact directly on the door.
